Fiddler’s Green Irish Pub is another place we’ve been seeing posted to Facebook quite a bit, so we decided to make the drive to give them a try. It’s either located in Kingston or Larksville depending on the website you’re using for your source. Maybe it’s one of those situations where Larksville is a part of Kingston, but I’m not super familiar with that area, so that’s a complete guess. When we arrived, it was not busy at all, so we had our choice of open spots at the large rectangular bar. There are also plenty of bar tables around the bar in case you don’t want the attention of sitting at the bar itself. There were also additional tables in another room to the side of the bar, which contained a pool table as well if you’re into that sort of thing.   Our orders were taken pretty promptly. The wings took a bit longer than expected considering how little of a crowd there was, but it wasn’t anything outrageous. As time went on, more people began to filter in. I guess it’s a late bloomer, although we did get there around 5:30, so we are kind of early birds in that regard.

There seemed to be a mix of wing sizes at Fiddler’s Green. Some of them were pretty large, but every once in a while you’d get one on the smaller size. And while they don’t allow orders of 5, you can place an order for 10 and split the batch between two different sauces. They do advertise 50 cent wings on both Monday and Thursday. I was a little confused after leaving because I realized my check was just over $14, but I only ordered 20 wings, so either I was charged for something I didn’t have or the wing night price wasn’t applied. Be sure to check your bill before leaving just in case.

The flavor options at Fiddler’s Green were honestly one of the major draws that made me want to check it out. I love a place that has a large selection of flavors, and Fiddler’s Green did not disappoint. They have a good mix of the classics, some that combine a number of sauces, and then some I’ve never seen before. There were some that contained Irish Whiskey and even some that contained Cooper cheese. I also liked how they had weird names for sauces and included a description of the sauce for those who may not be familiar with them. They even offer some dry rubs if that tickles your fancy. I do wish they would rearrange the wing sauce menu a little better so like flavors were together, but that’s just a minor complaint.

The wings at Fiddler’s Green were well cooked across the board. Regardless if the wing was big or small, they had a nice crispiness that I enjoyed for all sauces and dry rubs. Since this was a new place, I had an order of the Hot. The hot was a nice red sauce with a strong, spicy, peppery flavor. The spice lingered a bit, especially as you had more of the same wing, but it wasn’t overwhelming. The Mild Cajun Garlic had a pretty prominent Cajun spice flavor with a decent heat from the Hot sauce. There was a hint of garlic, but that was mostly overpowered by the Cajun spice. The Shan’s Spicy Dry was a dry rub consisting of a number of different spices. I was struggling to identify all of the spices involved. I got a sort of Porketta vibe from the wings with a hint of some sort of pepper. The wings were well coated in the seasoning and they were extra crispy since they were not covered in sauce. Finally, I saved my best for last. The Phoenix is a mix of Mild, Southwest Seasoning, and Ranch. This wing was bursting with flavor. There was plenty of Southwest Seasoning and Ranch that gave it a great spice, and while there was a mild base, this wing was spicier than I expect, which I think was due to the Southwest seasoning.

Kingston is where we found ourselves as the journey for wing Nirvana continued. We ended up at a place called Fiddler’s Green. Yes, it is an Irish bar and a clean one at that. Fiddler’s Green has a few TVs, in case you’re into that kind of thing. We got their pretty early in the evening so it was bumping so there really wasn’t an atmosphere other than it being a building. That changed towards the end of our time there. There’s a pool table if you’re in the sporting mood. We sat at the bar but there are tables throughout. Our bartender/server was nice, knowledgable on their different flavors(foreshadowing) and was quick to refill a drink. I can’t really ask more than that.

Very good sized wings at a very good wing night price are what you’ll get at Fiddler’s Green. 50 cents is what they go for on wing night. That’s pretty dang good considering the upcharge in wing prices all throughout the land. Whatever your typical wing amount is, you’re safe to order that here. They were big and meaty every which way.

What a delight it was to see that Fiddler’s Green has 32 flavors to choose from. There were some unique ones on there that ordinarily would need to follow up questions about. Fortunately, their menu explains what’s in each sauce.

I, obviously, got my standard 20 flavors. Naturally, we started with hot. They were more than you classic hot or Buffalo that you typically get. There was added flavor of sweetness in there that really did good work. Next, we have the Fronzo Gonzo. Not sure if this was an ode to the resident of Sesame Street, but these were solid. Fronzo Gonzo is compiled of Irish Whiskey BBQ and garlic. What made them elite was the copious amounts of garlic. The sweetness and tang of the BBQ mixed with the garlic delivered. After those, we had the mild Carribean Jerk garlic. Not sure if these were an ode to if Steve Martin went vacationing to the Carribean, but these were sneaky good. I had some reservations about these. It was their mild sauce combined with jerk seasoning and then covered in a large amount of garlic. It worked. It worked really well. All these different flavors came together like Kansas City’s defense around week 9(nice topical reference). Finally, we had the Spicy Jersey. Never heard of anyone calling New Jersey. They must be talking about how Jersey stings the nostrils. Anyways, this flavor is a force. Their Jersey flavor is Cooper Cheese and garlic. Spicy Jersey is that combined with their hot. This was awesome. I’m a big Cooper cheese guy. It’s superior to American and most other cheeses. If you don’t think so then I advise you to grow up. The Cooper topped again with loads of garlic then submerged in their hot is terrific and a must get.
