  • Kildare’s Podcast - 12/01/14

Hello all! Long time, no post. It’s getting busy with the holiday season, but no fear, we are still here. If you go  like us on Facebook, you could see that we are still hitting up new places every week.

For instance, we visited Kildare’s for a third time, and recorded a podcast for them for the first time. In fact, that’s the entire purpose of this post. The podcast can be found below. To read our reviews of previous visits, as always, head over to the review page for the restaurant: Kildare’s Review Page.

Kildare’s is a bar and restaurant mix. It is a major bar hangout on the weekends where the college kids go to drink. I‘d say it’s more of a club than a bar on the weekends. During the week, it’s definitely quieter. We got there earlier when there wasn’t much of a crowd. It seemed there was a small party in the back for someone’s 21st. It was pretty chill though. There is a very long bar on one side and a smaller bar on the opposite side. There is also an upstairs, outdoor bar that is pretty cool for the summertime. They have been slightly improving their drink selection over the past couple weeks. During the day though, it’s more of a restaurant. Our server was decent enough, but it definitely wasn’t outstanding service. In fact, it took quite a while to get a refill and a check at the end of our meal. Monday is quiz night, but we got there before it began. I highly suggest going during the quiz portion if you don’t mind being there later. It’s actually a lot of fun.

I’ve got to say that these wings were pretty large. For $0.35, it’s hard to find a better deal. You’ll leave here plenty satisfied.

They don’t have a crazy amount of flavors here, but they have some interesting options. I like the idea of the BFG, which means the wing is lightly seasoned, then baked, fried, and grilled.

    Wing Taste (x2): 4

This is our second trip to Kildare’s and I remember not being that impressed with the wings the first time around. It is safe to say that the experience was pretty much the same this time around. Between the two of us, we got to try all the flavors. The Buffalo were good enough. They weren’t mind-blowing, but they had a decent taste of butter and spice. The BFG sounds very interesting, but I don’t think it had all that much flavor. It would be nice if it contained more seasoning. The Teriyaki were pretty good. The saltiness was subtle and the sauce was thick. They were probably my favorite out of the bunch. The Ranch were a major let down. It was just a wing with some Buffalo and Ranch on top. The Ranch flavor wasn’t all that strong. Whiskey BBQ tasted a bit better than your traditional BBQ sauces. You can tell it wasn’t just a container of BBQ sauce. The Firehouse were another good wing here. It is similar to the Buffalo, but they use a different pepper to make the sauce. It isn’t necessarily that it’s a super spicy sauce, but it is just a different pepper flavor. I liked them quite a bit.

Their wing night is on a Monday, so the real fun atmosphere of Kildares could not be had. But it was fine there. It is a very clean and inviting place. It is a large area inside equipped with 2 bars. There isn’t a dart board or pool table if that’s what you are into. Our server was quick and diligent; we didn’t have to wait a long time for anything. Also, give you blue cheese and celery that you don’t have to pay for, which is always nice.

The wings are pretty darn large at Kildares and for 35 cents each, it won’t hurt your wallet too badly.

    Wing Flavors: 7

There is a descent selection of wing flavors to choose from. They have mild, hot, firehouse, whiskey bbq, ranch, teriyaki and BFG, (baked, fried and grilled).

    Wing Taste (x2): 4

I ordered the firehouse, ranch, whiskey bbq and BFG wings. They were decently crispy, which is always a plus. The firehouse was supposed to be hotter than their regular hot wings but I didn’t find them to be very hot at all. They didn’t taste awful or anything but they were lacking in heat, which was a letdown. The ranch were pretty good. Just a simple ranch sauce put on them. I thought they could of used more ranch sauce to them. The whiskey BBQ wings were average. They weren’t bad, they weren’t stellar, they were just there and I ate them. They had a thin BBQ sauce to them that was lacking in any flare. Finally, I had the BFG wings, which are baked then fried, then grilled allegedly. They were like plain wings with no sauce on them and a very light seasoning to them. Once again, I would of liked to have more flavor to them.
