We’ve been making a bunch of return trips to places we haven’t been in a while. Mickey Gannon’s is the latest one to make the cut. Listen to our Wingcast below to hear all about it.

Since our last visit, Mickey Gannon’s has changed up their flavors. In fact, they now have some flavors not on the menu. We reveal all in the Podcast review. We’ve even dubbed Mickey Gannon’s “The Pride of Green Ridge”. I think a lot of people would agree based on how many people love their regular Hot sauce.

Head over to the Mickey Gannon’s Review Page to check out information about our previous visits. Otherwise, keep on wingin’!

This was our second time at Mickey Gannon’s, and boy, was it packed. We got there around 7:30, which was a little later than I would have liked. The parking lot was completely filled up, so I knew it wasn’t a good sign. When we walked in, there was hardly a place to sit; we had to kind of hijack a section at a very skinny bar table to get a place. We were a bigger group this time, so it was very much elbow to elbow. Our waitress was decent, but it was more like she was there to make a buck than she was to service us. We did play some darts while waiting for food, and we had children running in front of us and people using the ATM to our right. It was very awkward. After over an hour, we finally got our hot wings. The process took forever. On top of that, they give you bottle water instead of water in a glass. I’m not a fan of that tactic. Heck, some people consider Scranton water some of the best around. I know, I read the water report. Also, they don’t accept cards, so you have to get your money out of an ATM that charges money for a withdrawl.

    Wing Size: 5

The wing size wasn’t too shabby at all. $0.50 is kind of high for a wing night, but their wings will leave you filled up. They aren’t extremely massive, but they are a larger wing.

There’s not really much to say about the selection. They offer Hot, Medium and Mild. That is that.

    Wing Taste (x2): 7

Well, as you probably guess, I placed an order for Hot. The wings were pretty tasty. The last couple places we went, the wings were very salty, but the wings here had a nice, balanced taste. They had a good taste of that spicy pepper flavor, along with a great buttery, vinegary taste. I just wish there was more variety to taste here.

Mickey Gannon’s is located in Scranton near the Marywood campus and you can certainly get the college vibe on their wing night. We got there at 7:30 and the place was packed. Not a seat to be had. Luckily a gentleman made room for us at his table. The atmosphere is a fun one, with loud banter filtering through the entire pub. This place is a great place to have tremendous conversations where you don’t have to worry about young kids over hearing you. No pool table but you could play darts. The service wasn’t bad or anything like that but we did have to wait and hour and a half before we got our food. That’s not our waitresses fault. It was very busy but leaving at 9:40 was something I could of done without.

    Wing Size: 5

They get an average score in this department. They were 50 cents each for their wing night, which to me isn’t any kind of deal. I know I am not going to see any more quarter wing nights but 50 cents, though not going to break the bank, still doesn’t seem like a great deal. But they rate a 5 for me because they are pretty large. I had 20 and I was feeling just about full at around wing 17.

    Wing Flavors: 1

The way the wings are made, if Mickey Gannon’s had more flavors, they would rate real well. They only have hot, mild and medium. That’s it. Also, can anyone tell me the difference between mild and medium?

    Wing Taste (x2): 6

I gave them a 6 the last time around. I’m keeping them same mainly because their hot wings are very good. If they had more flavors Gannon’s would score very well here. Their hot is spicy and the sauce is just thick enough. I felt that the sauce was even baked into them that is how much flavor is with every bite. I also love how crispy they make them. Like I said, they are a large wing and it is unusual to have big crispy wings but they pull it off extremely well.
