Queen City Tavern has recently opened in Olyphant, taking the place O-Town Craft House. It’s another restaurant opened by the Basalyga Hospitality group, which also owns Olde Brook Inn, Atera, Farr Street Tavern, and more. The place definitely has a more modern, sleek vibe to it. If the weather cooperates, you can enjoy some dining at the tables on the sidewalk, otherwise, head inside to plenty of sit-down tables on multiple floors, or choose a place at the decently-sized bar that has multiple TVs so you can catch your favorite game. When it was O-Town, I don’t remember seeing an upstairs, but not it is much more open and seems like a cool place to chill with friends. The place was pretty full when we arrived and it never seemed to die down. Regardless, we had great service and our food didn’t take long at all. It’s definitely more of a restaurant now instead of a bar.

We made a stop on their wing night, which serves up 10 wings for $7. They do not allow splitting of flavors or smaller orders, so coordinate with a friend if you want more options. They also upcharge on two of their flavors, which isn’t discounted for wing night, so take that into account when ordering. The wings were definitely a good size. I struggled to take down my usual amount.

Queen City Tavern offers most of your usuals in the wing sauce department. For those who like your classic flavors like Mild, Hot, or BBQ, you’re covered. If you’re feeling more adventurous, they do offer a couple more unique flavors like Honey Beer Dijon, Asian Cajun Bleu, and Calypso Crush, which was described to us as a Sweet and Hot sauce, like a Thai Chili. At the time of our visit, there was no mention of weekly specials or different sauces off the menu.

I’ll focus on the Hot and Asian Cajun Bleu for my review even though Serniak and I split four flavors. The Hot was a thinner, red sauce with a really nice buttery flavor and a decent vinegar kick. While the spice was there, it was definitely manageable. The Asian Cajun Bleu sauce was fantastic. It was a thick, creamy, orange-white sauce with lots of flavor. I’m not sure how the Asian descriptor gets factored in, but the Cajun and Bleu was on full display and really tasty. I highly recommend these wings. As I mentioned in size, the wings were pretty large and meaty, with a decent amount of crisp.

A new wing joint has risen in the heart of the Valley in a location that used to be occupied by another. O-Town in Olyphant is no more. Kind of a shame, really, because they had those stuffed wings. I enjoyed those, and let me tell you, it’ll be years until someone figures out how to add on to a wing.
Anyway, the Lord of Scranton and his Midas Touch have found his way to Olyphant in the form of the Queen City Tavern. If you’ve ever been to the revamped Farr St. Tavern, in Scranton, and you should as well as trying their wings that you can read all about here, you might have an idea of how the new Queen City Tavern is all about. I’m not saying it’s a carbon copy, but you might think that you stepped foot into the Farr St. Tavern. Hey, maybe that Olyphant portal talk isn’t so crazy, and all it does is transport you to and from a few bars?
Queen City Tavern is larger than Farr St. and has a whole upstairs that you can sit at. It is also equipped with outdoor seating if you’re into that kind of thing. It was very clean and all the workers were moving around good.
I really enjoyed the energy(I’m tired of the word vibes being used all over the place) that was throughout the place. It gave off a cross of celebrating something with a close group of friends, with just gotten out of work, and I need a beverage to settle down in a relaxed environment.
There were TVs in the bar area, and our server helped us out with everything we needed.

Outstanding-sized wings at Queen City Tavern are what you get when you order. They really were large and, because of this, they had a terrific MPB(meat per bite for you noobies). There’s larger out there, but not many.
And the price for wings on Monday’s which is their wing night, is 70 cents a wing. That’s really good in today’s wing world.

A very unique crop of wings is what you can get at Queen City Tavern. There are 9 flavors in total, and what I really enjoy is the descriptions. They have largely the classics, but the way they describe them is intriguing. Take their honey mustard; it’s a flavor most places have, but they call it honey beer dijon. I want all of that based on that description. They have a BBQ, but it’s called their “house BBQ.” Just little adjectives like that make things more interesting and make me think the chefs back there are doing more than squeezing Sweet Baby Ray’s on there.
Queen City is just getting started, and I’m selfish, meaning I hope they have ambitions to add even more sauces. Like I’ve said many times, you can always add anything to ranch and bleu cheese.

First off, you can’t split them into 5s. I know, kind of a bummer but it’s not the first time we’ve encountered this.
Secondly, though they’re big and swimming in sauce, the crisp level was solid.
On to the wings…
I did get those honey beer dijon because I am a sucker for fun adjectives. They were excellent, and they certainly had a bit more going on than you’re traditional honey mustard that’s out there. The sweet and tang were represented well, but the beer, and I don’t know which one they use, added a slight bitterness that was lovely.
The other one I got was an old-fashioned flavor, the Calypso Crush, which, for some reason, is $1.50 more than the other sauces. Our server said that this flavor is like a sweet, hot kind of sauce. This sauce was certainly that. It had real good spice, but nothing unbearable, and it had the sweetness as well to back it all up. Just an overall tasty flavor.
I know Lynch only covered the sauces he got. But I’d be remiss in my duty if I didn’t talk about the Asian Cajun bleu. The appearance was electric, and the combo of all those flavors came together like a delicate symphony. Make sure you get this flavor when you head to the Queen City Tavern.
