The Crossroads is quite a drive from Scranton. It’s nestled in the lovely town of Waymart, right next door to the state and federal prison. If any of the convicts escaped and made their way to The Crossroads, they would be in for quite a pleasant experience. I don’t know why, but I really enjoy the look of paneled wood in a bar. This paneling made Crossroads look classy and clean. If you enter from the front, you will enter a large bar area with a couple of high-seated tables. The bar is pretty large. There is a dining area, but I didn’t get a good look at it. The bar itself has a pool table and TouchTunes for music. You have to go up to the bar to order, which is completely fine with me in a bar setting. Actually, I wasn’t very clear on the waitressing situation, so I just went up to the bar to place my food and drink orders either way. Regardless, we had two separate bartenders/waitresses, and they were both friendly. It appeared a couple of regulars were sitting at the bar, as they had some friendly bickering going on with the bartenders. It appeared to be a friendly place overall. I was told to go to dinner early to avoid the rush. When we arrived, there were a lot of cars in the parking lot, but hardly anyone in the bar area. I was at a loss as to where everyone was sitting as the dining room didn’t seem that large. As we were leaving, there was a line of about 20 people waiting to get in the dining room. I guess it does get busy later on, but that’s not too surprising since there aren’t that many dining establishments in Waymart.

    Wing Size: 7

It’s a breath of fresh air to find a place that still sells wings for $0.35 each. After a horrible experience last week with Libassi’s, it’s nice to see a cheap wing again. On top of that, the wings were a pretty decent size. No leaving hungry from this place.

    Wing Flavors: 5

There was not a huge selection of flavors, but a couple of new flavors that you won’t see anywhere else. This was due mainly to the fact that they were named for something else you’ve had before. The way it was described to me is that Abe’s is essentially their medium, and Ziggy’s is a sweet and spicy sauce.

    Wing Taste (x2): 6

I ordered the Ziggy’s, Hot, and Hot Garlic. The Ziggy’s were a great combination of sweet and spicy. It carried a nice hot sauce flavor as well as a sweet undertone. The Hot Garlic were a pretty decent flavor. Nothing out of this world, but a good taste nonetheless. I wish it had a bit stronger of a garlic taste. The Regular hot was an interesting sauce. Unlike some hot sauces you see at place that are a dark red, these had a good orange color to them. It was a great mixture of butter and hot sauce, and it had a great spicy taste.

The Crossroads is a bar/restaurant located all the way in Waymart. Now I can understand that not many people would like to make the drive out there to a place that isn’t around anything too exciting but for a place that’s resides in the “boonies”, I can see myself having a fun time there. There is a dinning area and a separate bar area. It had a lodge kind of feel to it minus dead deer on the walls. Everyone in the bar area seemed to know each other, which led to an atmosphere that could have been uncomfortable but people there seemed nice and relaxed. There wasn’t much of a server; instead we ordered our wings at the bar. It was a clean place that housed a pool table. It’s the kind of place that if you and your friends went their for some drinks, you would have a funny time.

    Wing Size: 7

The size of the wing compared to its price was pretty good. They were 35 cents each for their wing night and the size was reasonable. I ordered 20 and I felt full enough. They were also nice and crispy.

    Wing Flavors: 6

There are only about 7 wing flavors to choose from. They have hot, mild, Abe’s, which is a less spicier sauce than mild, honey mustard, bbq butter and garlic and Ziggy’s, which is a sweet and spicy sauce.

    Wing Taste (x2): 7

I ordered hot, honey mustard, butter and garlic and Ziggys. Their plain hot sauce was nice and buttery and had a solid tang to them. They honey mustard actually had a good mustard taste, something is lacking a lot of times in that particular flavor in wings. To many times I order honey mustard wings and they hardly have any mustard in them. I was pleased these were balanced sufficiently. The butter and garlic wings however, had something I’m tired of seeing with butter and garlic wings that I see to often. Only one side had garlic on them. I think they put the wings in the basket and just coat them with garlic in stead of smothering them in it. This trend, I would like stopped. As for the Ziggys, I thought it was real good. A great combination of sweet and spice it was. I’m generally a sucker for sweet and spicy anything and these wings did not disappoint.
